#85 New Film reviews from the last week…

I have recently been watching a lot of different and good movies, I have a film list which I have had for a long time, now and then I get to tick some films of that list, here are some of them that have been ticked, with a little review about them.

Caveman (2013)

‘Caveman, is a comedic film with a slight edge of drama revolving around the lives of somewhat single, somewhat unemployed guys living in a warehouse converted to living quarters in the arts district of downtown L.A. They are toiling adulthood and realities of love.’ – Imdb

Dean (played by Skylar Austin) wants to be a writer and write about love but has never been in love, he goes on the journey of finding love and writing his story, with help from friends Jay (Chad Michael Murray), Tess (Camilla Belle), Pete (Kenny Wormaid) and Andre (Dayo Okeniyi). With love interest Kat (Alexis Knapp).

This is a perfect film if you are just wanting to chill and watch a comedy with a dash of romance and enjoy it, just like I did. Go watch it!

Stoker (2013)

‘After India’s father dies, her Uncle Charlie, who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her unstable mother. She comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives and becomes increasingly infatuated with him.’ – Imdb

Featuring the Amazing and talented (Mia Wasikowska playing) India, Evelyn Stoker (Nicole Kidman), Charles Stoker (Matthew Goode) and Richard Stoker (Dermot Mulroney), this film is defiantly one to watch. I remember watching the trailer for this and being really intrigued and pulled in & couldn’t wait for the film to be released and when it finally appeared on Sky, I just couldn’t resits anymore and I now Know why because it was just brilliant!!!

Bernie (2011)

‘In small-town Texas, the local mortician strikes up a friendship with a wealthy widow, though when he kills her, he goes to great lengths to create the illusion that she’s alive.’ – Imdb

Based on a true story, this film is quirky and brilliant. With a story line that is unusual and surprising and then finding out it is based on a true story is shocking. The style in which they have people talking to the camera and commenting on the situation makes it so much more interesting and effective. I also loved the fact that Jack Black went to see the real Bernie Tiede, is so good!

Bernie is defiantly so successful because of the brilliant cast that feature in it including Bernie Tiede (played by Jack Black), Majorie Nugent (Shirley MacLaine), Danny Buck (Matthew McConaughey), Scrappy Holmes (Brady Coleman), just naming a few as there is so many in this film.

Bachelorette (2012)

‘Three friends are asked to be bridesmaids at a wedding of a woman they used to ridicule back in high school.’ – Imdb

This film was brilliant, so funny and was just a lovely film, with a brilliant cast including Rebel Wilon, Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan, James Marsden, Paul Corning, Hayes MacArthur and Adam Scott. Really good sitting on the sofa, easy watch with a lot of comedy!!!

The Young Victoria (2009)

‘ A dramatization of the turbulent first years of Queen Victoria’s rule, and her enduring romance with Prince Albert.’ – Imdb

I have wanted to watch this film for such a long time and finally I found it on Netflix and just loved it. Such a beautiful story, made beautifully – every aspect was just brilliant. The story was just so lovely and it really gave you in sight into the world that Victoria lived. With such an amazing film the cast of course was as exceptional, they included Emily Blunt playing Queen Victoria, Mark Strong, Rupert Friend, Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson, Jim Broadbent, Thomas Kretchmann, Jesper Christensen, Harriet Walter & of course this is only  handful but you can see from this just how talented this film was filled with.

My favourite film I have seen in a long time. I love it, its pure brilliance.

War Horse (2011)

‘Young Albert enlists to serve in World War One after his beloved horse is sold to the cavalry. Albert’s hopeful journey takes him out of England and to the front lines as the war rages on.’ – Imdb

The lovely story of Albert Narracott and his beautiful horse.

I have wanted to watch this film in so long and when I finally got round to watching it, it did not disappoint. What a beautiful film it is, a beautiful story and just perfect especially with the oh so talented cast involved featuring; Jeremy Irvine playing Albert Narracott, Emily Watson, Ted Narracott, Niels Arestrup, David Thewlis, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Celine Buckens, Toby Kebble, Patrick Kennedy, Leonard Carow, David Kross, Matt Milne, Robert Emms, Eddie Marsan, Nicolas Bro, Rainer Bock, Gary Lydon, Geoff Bell, Liam Cunningham and so many more. What an amazing film, so touching and so real.
