#70 Silent Witness is back

Silent Witness is back, Series 17 hit our screens on Thursday 2nd January 2014. This series has been going for 17 series’ which is just crazy and it just shows how much this programme is loved, how much people want to watch it and how creative they can be because of how well it has done.

Series 16 ended with a devastating final, Professor Leo Dalton (played by William Gaminara) died because of a suicidal bomber. Leaving the wonderful Dr Nikki Alexander (played by Emilia Fox), Jack Hodgson (played by David Caves) and Clarissa (played by Liz Carr). At the start of series 17 there is a new man on the block which is taking over from Leo’s job, he is the new Leo, Dr Thomas Chamberlain (played by Richard Lintern).

Silent Witness stories are always put into two parts, Thursday 2nd January kicked off series 17 with part-one (2nd January) and part-two on (3rd January) called ‘Commodity’. In this two-part episode it focus on Israeli money and how two individual people can be connected by money because both parties put money to the Israli’s (which are also connected with extortion and kidnapping) they tried to kidnap children and in one case it went massively wrong, a mother and son were killed and the lady that connected everyone (the nanny) died because she got involved when she shouldn’t have.

The great thing about Silent Witness is how they portray the evidence with each murder and how it all links with the other story’s that is brought into it, it is brilliant the way it connects and everything that is brought into the episode is a clue into the bigger picture. It is very cleverly done and that is why I love it as a television programme.

I cannot wait to see what this series brings and how Dr Thomas fits into the setting of the Silent Witness team and what new cases the Silent Witness team will find themselves on.
