#56 Lets talk Beautiful Creatures, Zero Dark Thirty & American History X

Beautiful Creatures

Beautiful Creatures

I have recently just watched this film, having missed it at the cinema I watched on Sky Demand and I was pleasantly surprised. It has a great cast, an interesting story line – some romance & some magic which is a brilliant mix. The story is based on a young girl Lena Duchannes (played by Alice Englert) that when she comes of age at 16 she ill even be taken as a good or evil Witch. Along the way she meets a young boy Ethan Wate (played by Alden Ehrenreich) who after finding out that she is Witch they fall in love.  Lena is brought into the town by her uncle Macon Ravenwood (played by Jeremy Irons) who lives with Gramma (played by Elleen Atkins), Aunt Del (played by Margo Martindale), Larkin Ravenswood (played by Kyle Gallner). Lena’s sister Ridley Duchannes (played by Emmy Rossum) turns to the dark side when she is 16 & now is in town for her little sister to choose her ways too. Jeremy sister Sarafine you never see her true identity because she used other people body including Mrs Lincoln (played by Emma Thompson) Ethan’s best friend Link (played by Thomas Mann) mum she is extremely dangerous full of evil and comes back to sway Lena her daughter to become just like that.

In the end Lena is half and half, she controls what her destiny is but is carefully looked after by Amma (played by Vola Davis) the good Witch that looks after her and the town, this has happened for centuries.

I wasn’t expecting the story line to be the way it was which made me pleasantly  and it was a different film, it was a different and that is what I liked about it, the story was unusual and that is what I liked. If you like this sort of film then defiantly go watch it!

This film is just brilliant, Zero Dark Thirty is an amazing film. Zero Dark Thirty is based on the decade long hunt for the almighty Al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden after the September 11th 2001 attacks & then the death of the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L, Team 6 in May 2011. (IMDB Review)

Maya (played by Jessica Chastain) is the lady that kept on going from the start of the film in 2004 to the end of the film in 2011 & finally her determination was what landed the Navy team 6 to kill Bin Laden. You have Dan (played by Jason Clarke) he tortued Ammar (played by Reda Kateb) whose family was involved with the Al-Qadea. Joseph Bradley (played by Kyle Chandler) is Maya’s boss, Jessica (played by Jennifer Ehie) and Jack (played by Harold Perrineau) are also on Maya’s team trying to find Bin Laden. Hakim (played by Fares Fares) he helps the Americans in detecting the final people who finds them Bin Laden’s layer. George (played by Mark Strong) he is Maya and her teams boss! Then you have The C.I.A Director, (played by the late James Gandolfini), Patrick the squadron team leader who found Bin Laden (played by Joel Edgerton), Justin (played by Chris Pratt), Jared (played by Taylor Kinney) they are just a couple of the guys involved in the Navy Team that was involved in bringing Bin Laden down and killing him.

This film is extraordinary, it takes you through all of the steps in which they had to go through to find and kill Bin Laden. The threats they got themselves, hotels bombed, being shot on the doorstep, people losing there lives, people leaving to have a life. All of this happened so they could get the result they wanted and they did it.

This film is one of the best I have seen this year! Go & watch it.

American History X

American_history_x_poster

I have just watched American History X & I thought it was a brilliant film. The film is based around Derek Vinyard (played by Edward Norton) who is a former Neo-Nazi that after killing two black young men and going to jail, he comes out a changed man and wants to make sure his brother  Danny Vinyard (played by Edward Furlong) doesn’t go down the same path.

This film really touches home on the issues of belief, being brainwashed, extreme violence, murder, jail, family, death, racism & being in a cult. This film has a lot of violence in it to show what is going on in Derek’s life and it also looks into the past a lot, it has the film in black and white when talking of past events & has either Danny or Derek narrating the events.

This film is brilliant it has a brilliant story line and a talented cast including – Derek Vinyard (played by Edward Norton), Danny Vinyard (played by Edward Furlong), Doris Vinyard (played by Beverly D’Angelo), Davina Vinyard (played by Jennifer Lien), Seth Ryan (played by Ethan Suplee), Stacey (played by Fairuza Balk), Dr. Bob Sweeney (played by Avery Brooks), Murray (played by Elliott Gould), Cameron Alexander (played by Stacy Keach), Dennis Vinyard (played by William Russ) and Lamoni (played by Guy Torry).

As you can see this film had a very talented cast and even though for me it was a little bit gory at time, it’s a great film!
