#46 Let’s talk ‘The Newsroom’

The second season of The Newsroom has been finished for a couple of weeks now but it is only now that I feel ready to write this blog post, why? You ask, well because of the way the second series finalised was just pure brilliant that I felt like I had to make sure I was ready to write this post in the right way and give it the credit it deserved & now I think I am ready to do this.

the newsroom season 2 carachters

The Newsroom has been going for two seasons and I have to say that the 19 episodes that have made up these two seasons have been pure brilliant, every one is just so worth watching it and yes you could say that about a lot of television series (as there is so many out now) but I think this season has just right the dynamic of excellence with the impressive and honourable cast, to the story lines, the locations, the emotion, the shortness of the series, Series 1 was 10 episodes and series 2 was only 9 episodes and the way that you fall in love with every character, within each series I have laughed, cried, been angry, confused and liberated because for me that is what a television series should do and because of the passion of News I have It does just that for me. This series doesn’t fit with a week or month to month basis, you have to make sure you keep complete concentration because of the way it jumps from months, to years and story lines.

Series 2 did just this, this series was focused around a certain situation that unravelled more and more as the episodes go on. Whilst this is happening there is also around 5 different stories going on with romance, friendships, breakdowns, hatred and fear going all through out the office of news.

I mentioned before about the impressive cast that this season holds, you have; Will McAvoy (played by Jeff Daniels) Will is the anchor man for ACN news. MacKenzie McHale (played by Emily Mortimer) the Producer for the ACN news show, Will is her anchor man. Jim Harper (played by John Gallagher Jr.) is the Executive Producer to Mackenzie, Maggie Jordan (played by Alison Pill) she is a researcher, Don Keefer (played by Thomas Sadoski) he is a producer for another news show with ACN, Neal Sampat (played by Dev Patel) he is in charge of everything social networking within ACN. Sloan Sabbith (played by Olivia Munn) she works the numbers on the news that is produced by Don. Charlie Skinner (played by Sam Waterston) he is the boss of ACN. Gary Cooper (played by Chris Chalk) another researcher, team member of ACN news like Maggie, Herb Wilson (played by John F Carpenter) he works in the gallery with Mackenzie, Hoey Phan (played by Trieu Tran) he does what Gary does, which is the same as Tess Westin (played by Margaret Judson) and Kendra James (played by Adina Porter). Reese Lansing (played by Chris Messina) is the son of the owner of ACN news, Elliot Hirsh (played by David Harbour) he is the news anchor man for the show that Don producers. Lisa Lambert (played by Kelen Coleman) a best friend/ex friend of Maggie. Leona Lansing (played by Jane Fonda) the owner of ACN, Rebecca Halliday (played by Marcia Gay Harden) the lawyer featured in season two, Jerry Dantana (played by Hamish Linklater) the person who brings the law suit to ACN in season two/steps in for Jim whilst he is away. Hallie Shea (played by Grace Gummer) Jim’s new lover. Nina Howard (played by Hope Davis) a journalist. Taylor Warren (played by Constance Zimmer) she works on the election that Jim is covering for ACN. Jim hates her but befriends her at the same time.

Pretty impressive cast isn’t it.

If you have not yet watched any of this show then you need to because for me this is one of my favourite television series and I think it will be for a long time. It has and does everything a television series should do which is why I cannot wait for next series even if I have to wait a whole year. This series is pure joy in my opinion.
